Is it possible to convert a "Contact" to "Organisation"?

A Contact record represents a Person, while an Organization represents an Institution or Business. A Contact can be linked to an Organization.  

On the other hand a Lead record can be converted to a create an Contact, Organization, and an Opportunity.
